Designers depend on such technology when manipulating images.
But what even is an image? This project deconstructs the digital ecosystem influencing graphic design and data collection to understand their place within a larger structure, seeking emancipation from opaque software and hidden data centres.
It introduces a system for controlling image production and understanding its processes. Hosted on a server inside a private home, the website ‘On Learning Graphic Design Again’ makes this research accessible.
The site offers coded tools, allowing users to rethink and practice graphic design by directly manipulating metadata.
